Weight stigmatization is real...

I am sooooo glad this conversation is happening on major platforms now. I have been discussing this topic for years, including my own social media platforms. The impact is greater when you hear it from the G.O.A.T.S. in the limelight. Weight stigmatization is real and a real prejudice. Let us discuss the balance of healthy lifestyles and not assuming negative charateristics among us who are overweight. I support discussions like this!

I appreciate every time I saw a plus size woman on my screen growing up. Such as Oprah, Queen Latifah, Star Jones... to name a few. Like myself, I have been plus size my entire life, while playing sports, singing in the choir, participating in plays or musicals, teaching in front of hundreds of people, etc. And my weight did not manifest other medical diagnoses, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease or high cholesterol. Every physical I wowed my doctors at how healthy I am as an overweight woman.

How we internalize our value as ppl is interesting. Many of us, especially women are socialized to base our value on our exterior. How beautiful we are, how nice our voice is, how soft our touch is, whether someone views us as worthy of bearing children or not. All I am saying is many of the social expectations passed on intergenerationally are internalized, except for those who embrace curves in their culture or those of us who are willing to rebel against social norms. As a youth and even now, I enjoy proving people wrong about what a plus size female can or cannot do.

I workout 4 to 6 days per week. I eat healthy, most of the time. 😉 I mean, there is nothing wrong with a sweet ever so often. My Southern roots mean I put dessert on my plate with my main meal. IJS. 😂 Anyways, life is sweet. We gotta express sweetness toward eachother, irregardless of our sizes. Do not limit others or pre-judge based on external factors. Some of yall missed blessings because of your bias. Thank you for your time.

To my plus size sisters and brothers speak kindly to yourselves today. You are handsome, beautiful and worthy of love - just because you are enough.

Happy Soul-Care Saturday ✨️

This is Dr. Cunningham & we out!✌🏽
