Dr. Cunningham's professional license

ree

This piece of paper is my Connecticut state license in marriage and family therapy. I am legally able to conduct mental health evaluations and psychotherapy in Connecticut. What am I required to accomplish prior to obtaining this piece of paper?

Connecticut LMFT License Requirements

Education: Earn a graduate degree in marriage and family therapy from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), or an equivalent program approved by the state's Board of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

I am thankful, I chose to educate myself above the minimum requirements by obtaining my doctorate in marriage & family therapy from Antioch University New England.

Supervised Clinical Experience: Complete a practicum including a minimum of 500 direct clinical hours, 100 of which must be clinical supervision.

Licensure by Verification: Effective October 1, 2025, a new law (H.B. 7081) allows out-of-state LMFTs to receive a Connecticut license by providing verification of their current license in good standing.
