I wonder if people attempt to redirect "readiness" when they are not ready for something new? Meaning, if someone introduces a new concept or idea and the group isn't ready to accept, they will say the introducer is the concern. Not true. Maybe the group requires time to adapt to the new.
Sometimes, people are so accustomed to the way it is, it is tough to see a new way. Just a thought.
